This isn’t just another gig or your usual festival experience. It’s a small community doing a non-profit event in a part of Croatia and Europe where not much happens, so please be respectful towards the locals, your fellow visitors, and the crew, who put thousands (!!) of collective hours into making this happen - completely voluntarily and because of pure love for what we do.
Sick As We Are is an annual gathering of the Balkan hardcore punk community in Zupanja, Croatia.
We're a small, intimate festival with a friendly atmosphere and a strong do-it-yourself spirit. Over the past 17 years, we've hosted 208 different bands on our stage. They've come to our little shithole from five different continents, and every year anywhere from a few hundred to around a thousand visitors show up - mostly from across Eastern Europe, with the occasional fly-ins from further away. But for us, it’s never really been about the numbers - we like to think that it’s about the community we get together and the friendships we make and nourish during these three days, packed with noisy underground music is what makes this gathering special.
Our crew comes together as a non-profit collective of punks, and enthusiasts who are trying to educate, connect, and push for change - locally and beyond.
We don’t do this for money and we prove that on every front. Everyone involved works entirely voluntarily and free of charge. Same goes for the bands and artists involved - no headliners and big names with big sponsorships and budgets. The festival is donation-based, but that doesn’t mean it’s free to run. We pour in a lot of time and our own resources, just to make it all happen. There are no corporate sponsors, no local or state funding, no shady branding deals and no bullshit. No fences. No entrance fee. No minimum donations. No queues. Pure freedom for all, hardcore punk in your face - the way it should be. What we stand for is what we do.
